via Racialicious, a new ad from PeTA that says (in English and Spanish), “If the border patrol doesn’t get you, the chicken and burgers will. Go Vegan.”
As is shown in the Racialicious article, PeTA has previously used images of lynchings compared to that of a cow hanging at a meat plant, and also used images of the Holocaust next to those of chickens in cages.
The best part of this whole thing, too, is that PeTA is giving money to the US Border Patrol to advertise on their property, aka, the walls and border offices, which is funny seeing as it certainly signals to me that PeTA really does care more about their ad campaign, and animals that it does about Human Rights, what the border wall symbolizes in regards to human rights, and the fact they have no qualms giving money to an organization that has consistently actually treated people as less than human, or as “animals” if you will. I feel like addressing the fact nursing babies are forcibly separated from their mothers by the Border Patrol, that people who bring water and aid to the desert where hundreds of migrants from Mexico, Central and South America die each year, and that those who are detained by our government for being “illegal” are not given habeaus corpus or whatnot, might be more important than making a joke about what happens if the Border Patrol doesn’t apprehend you. Many people are deathly afraid of the unchecked power of la migra, and yet, PeTA feels they can make this into a joke, that totally denies the reality of immigration and denies human dignity in the process (like they’ve done so many times before).
PeTA is the fucking joke. Makes me want to go to Good Times.
And, yeah, this is my first post here. We’ll see how often I update.
