Lots of things have been milling around in my brain lately. they really have nothing to do with each other, but i will write them here.
Firstly, Sarah Palin. yeah, yeah, i know, this shit is played out. The problem is I’m conflicted because on the one hand, I get mad about questions of her fitness because of the she’s a mother and a woman. on the other hand, I want the democrats to throw every fucking sexist argument at her and john mccain because the republicans and conservatives have been doing that to every somewhat powerful liberal/democratic woman forever. But in the grand scheme of things, she’s just a fucking token. I mean, I don’t think I’ve felt a greater sense of wanting to call someone a fucking sell-out, a fucking token, a poor example for women, as I do about Sarah Palin. Gaining power at all costs by being the conservative poster girl (and totally looking like the librarian from every porn i’ve ever seen) a’int hot, and I don’t give a fuck. it’s also times like these I remember why I hate fucking candidate politics…because I could give a fuck about her, or whatever, and she was just picked to try and woo hillary voters because women only think with their vaginas (and, btw, that’s the only important part on us!). Please forgive my mom analytical, factual, “good feminist” reaction to this because I do what I want. Lol.
Also, how is mccaing up in polls? it’s because he stole obama’s message and is acting like he’s about change. and the obama campaign is”where?” yeah. let’s lose this fucking election too.
i really don’t wanna go back to the porn store, but i really miss the sex education part of my life, as much as it involved sex-positivity and fun and harm reduction and shit. so, in my future (after i help elect obama), i wanna go back to sex stuff. i’m thinking of getting a masters in sex education, maybe? that would be fucking fun. although, how can we bust out of the box of sex as a white, straight male construction and make it awesome for all sorts of folks? i know there is a lot of good work going on around this, but i find it extremely pretentious and judgemental because people still hold some fucked up judgements of sex if it doesn’t look a certain way (whether it be straight, gay, queer, etc.). Also, I sometimes find that queerness has to be expressed in a certain way yo be acceptable…as in, you have to be all gay rights-y and working on marriage and allyship, or you have to be all mysteriously radical and anti-capitalist and shit, at least in denver. I guess a lot of me doesn’t fit either of those things, and I’m not one to fret my identity, but it’s hard to see where you can build a community when you either have to disavvow things you enjoy, act fucking pretentious and academic, or be totally boring and non-controversial.
Please, please, please watch Jessie Ulibarri debate Jessica Corry, the person in charge of the deceptive amendment 46. Maybe I’m biased, but after her opening sentence, she descends into making absolutely no sense. Additionally, she never addressed how people can rememdy current discrimination, how the amendment advocates for the supposed “class-based alternatives” she kept talking about, and she lies about Ward Connerly endorsing the KKK, which you can see him doing here:
Also, watch the actual debate here.
Also, so we’re clear, Amendment 46 bans equal opportunity initiatives in Colorado that help qualified individuals achieve their full potential. Ms. Corry claims that minority enrollment has gone up at the UC schools, but doesn’t talk about how this is asian (ah, east asian) enrollment increases and that the numbers for Black and Latino students have decreased. She also talks about poor women as if being poor causes them to make less money (no, please, explain away the pay gap) and somehow makes their inequity in math and science. Additionally, her claim that women make up 58% of college students nationwide is true, but it is a red herring. The thing she doesn’t talk about is that most women are in programs that are more “womanly” like teaching or nursing, and that women are severly underrepresented in math and engineering programs, as well as science, history, etc. Subjects that have generally been considered the subjects of men. Such lies! Also, 46 is not a homegrown initiative. Ward Connerly paid for the petitions to be collected, many of the signature collectors were from out of state, and he gets paid millions of dollars by the American Civil Rights Institute (which doesn’t have shit to do with civil rights) to travel around the country limiting equal opportunity for all. Must totally suck to get paid millions of dollars to gurantee people aren’t given the opportunity to succeed and acheive.
Also, my flickr feed should have pictures of my slow decline until election day! lol. i’m doing some ridiculous picture each day til obama wins!
